Firewheel Town Center Posted on 2010-08-05 22:13:44
Four Seasons Market at Firewheel will not re-open. It was a great market but too expensive to maintain and we didn't receive the support we expected from the owner - Simon Property Group. In fact, we will not setup any market with them. This is why we cancelled Irving Mall and North East Mall markets.
On the bright side, we may relocate that market this year somewhere in Garland - near Firewheel.
We would like to thank you very much for the numerous emails we received and for your support regarding this issue. Please rest assured that we tried our best to keep the market open.

Spring Greening comes to Firewheel Posted on 2010-04-30 08:37:26
Area families can spring into green during "Little Planet Helpers," a free, eco-themed event with the Simon Kidgits Club and Radio Disney at Firewheel Town Center on Saturday, May 1 from 12 noon to 2 p.m..
During this special event, kids can tap into the fun Earth Day festivities while engaging in hands-on activities that teach them how to keep the environment clean and green. "We are thrilled to be hosting this fun, eco event with the Simon Kidgits Club," said Melody Kamp, Director of Marketing and Business Development.. "This year, we are kicking off spring with loads of green-themed games and projects that recognize and celebrate our natural environment."
While designed for kids, ages 3 to 8, parents also love our Kidgits Club events, she added. In fact, more than 90 percent of parents of Kidgits Club members agreed in a recent survey conducted for Simon Property Group that Kidgits events are fun for their children. Seventy percent said their kids talk about the fun for several days after taking part in the event.
"With all the fun planned, this eco event is sure to be no exception," Kamp said, explaining that children can play the "Pitch In Recycle Game," a green twist on the familiar basketball game that teaches kids how to recycle. Kids also will plant herb seedlings in pots they decorate themselves.
In addition, Radio Disney will provide trivia tips and prize giveaways to children at the event.

Four Seasons Market Closing for Christmas Posted on 2009-12-31 12:40:57
There will NOT be a Four Seasons Market Saturday, Dec. 26. Most of the vendors decided to spend the weekend with their families. And we agreed it was a good idea. But we’ll be back on Jan. 2 in the building at the north end of the Park in Firewheel Town Center at 305 Riverfern Avenue. The building is near the children’s playground and adjacent to the Parkside at Firewheel Apartments and Townhomes.
Look for some new vendors and new products when we get rolling again in January. We’ll keep you posted.

Christmas Shopping Gets Underway Posted on 2009-11-28 15:55:03
Withing minutes of opening day, Dread Head Chef sold three of his special Christmas handmade gift boxes to kick off the start of the holiday season at Four Seasons Markets.
Although the wind was gusting so hard at times that some of our producers had to take down their tents to avoid flying away, the sunny day drew hundreds of shoppers.
Some were looking for a handmade gift for Christmas, some for the makings of a good meal (Magnolia Seafood reported selling out of most of its shrimp and all of its red snapper), and some for lunch (Brisket Heaven was serving sandwiches non-stop) or just a sweet treat (Nana's Bananas were almost too busy to close at 2 p.m.).
Next week promises to be another great shopping day with the weather man calling for sunny skies with a high in the 60s.
Check back to see what Christmas specials our producers will be offering on Saturday, Dec. 5.

Sun, Customers Come Out Late at Today's Market Posted on 2009-11-21 16:01:33
The sun finally broke through today around noon and brought with it a rush of customers who just kept coming even as the planned 2 p.m. closing time came and went.
Many of the vendors took advantage of Firewheels' gracious offer to stay through 4 p.m.
Makes us think we might want to revise our hours to stay later . Stay tuned for more on that.
In the meantime, if you didn't make it to the market today, you missed what is just about the last of the East Texas tomatoes from Sacshe Heritage Farms. We'll know by mid-week whether there will be any on the 28th.
Also new this week were Nana's Bananas (chocolate covered frozen and non-frozen fruit on a stick) JuHa Ranch and Sloans Creek Heritage Meats (pastured raised beef, pork, chicken and lamb), Kustom Kicks (blinged out tennis shoes for kids) and many more.
Check out the events page for a preliminary look at who will be there next week as the Christmas shopping season gets underway.
Handcrafted and local make for great gifts. See you then.

Sunshine, New Vendors Draw Crowd for Second Market Posted on 2009-11-16 11:42:11
Nine new vendors were on hand for the second Four Seasons Market at The Firewheel Town Center Saturday offering products from sweet salsas to pickles and relishes.
They joined the more than thirty vendors who were part of our first market on Nov. 7.
A highlight of the day was a pottery throwing demonstration by Julie Brown of Work In Clay who showed market visitors just how she makes her exquisite stoneware products.
Stay turned for news on next week's market which will include new vendors like JuHa Ranch and their free range chicken and Zita Cookies with their line of home baked treats.

Julie Brown from Work In Clay to Demonstrate Her Pottery Making Posted on 2009-11-13 07:32:29
Julie Brown of Work In Clay will show market visitors just how she makes her exquisite stoneware products during pottery "throwing" demonstration that will be held every 30 minutes from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. near the fountain in the park.
Julie will be at her potters wheel demonstrating the first step in the process of making her functional stoneware pieces.
She describes her work as being "Always inspired by nature. I choose glowing hues of sunrises and sunsets greens of rolling hills, blues of sparkling waters, purple tones of majestic mountains, and desert browns to inform my pallet. The added joy is that these treasures in clay are created to be shared with others who will complete the piece in their environment."
So stop by and see how she does it.

First Four Seasons Market a Resounding Success Posted on 2009-11-09 20:21:00
The day started out with some iffy weather--cold. overcast and windy--but the customers started coming at 9 a.m., and while the weather finally lived up to the weather man's expectations, the crowds exceeded ours.
We want to thank our great new customers, our first-rate vendors and the folks at Firewheel Town Center for making yesterday the resounding success it was.
And a special thanks to Chef David Gilbert, who conducted a shopping tour of the market then put together a fantastic, flavorful "brunch" dish of grilled pork tenderloin from Truth Hill farms (marinated in Lucky Layla yogurt and seasoned with lemon pepper from Good Spice) accompanied by sunny-side up eggs from Truth Hill. The pork and eggs were smothered in a fresh tomato/basil salad made from tomatoes and scallions from Sasche Farms, heirloom tomatoes and basil from Joy Farms and doused with a blend of Texas Olive Ranch Olive Oil and their Roasted Garlic Olive oil.
It was a virtuoso demonstration of both the flavor and versatility of market-fresh ingredients. He promises to post the recipe on his site at www.beyondthekitchen.com
Stay tuned for more updates as we get ready for next week. Our goal is to create a European style market linking local ranchers, farmers, specialty food producers and artisanal craftsmen to customers, and yesterday was a solid first step in that direction. There are even better markets to come.

Chef David Gilbert To Lead Shopping Tour, Cooking Demo Saturday Posted on 2009-11-05 13:08:52
Chef David Gilbert, who is known for his focus on using local foods on his menus, will be hosting a free walking and shopping tour of the local food vendors beginning at 10 a.m., Saturday during the Four Seasons Market opening day.
Gather round the information booth near the fountain if you want to join him on the free tour.
Chef Gilbert, who was named a Rising Star Chef in 2007 and is noted for a cuisine that “elevates low brow ingredients,” will follow the tour with a quick cooking demonstration on how to combine the fresh ingredients he finds into a meal.
See you then.
