The Markets this Week

We are in the middle of renegotiating the contract with the Simon Property Group regarding the Farmers Market at Firewheel. Unfortunately we haven’t reached an agreement yet. This is why the market is suspended until further notice.

KIDSFEST 2010 and Four Seasons Market

FIREWHEEL TOWN CENTER HOSTS ‘KIDSFEST’
Fun-filled day of family-friendly activities to benefit the Galaxy Counseling Center
SATURDAY, MARCH 27 11 A.M. TO 3 P.M.

Firewheel Town Center will celebrate KIDSFEST benefiting Galaxy Counseling Center on Saturday, March 27 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Families are invited to come enjoy a FREE day filled with fun, children’s activities and kids’ favorite costumed characters in Firewheel Town Center’s Park area.

At 11 a.m. there will be an Egg Hunt in the Park for children ages six and younger, hosted by CW 33 television anchor Amanda Salinas and Radio Disney’s Jay Jenson. Kids are sure to fill their baskets as there will be 6,000 eggs hidden throughout the Park!

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., children can enjoy fun activity booths with arts and crafts, face painting, games, prize giveaways, bounce houses, a rock climbing wall, the Dallas Museum of Arts’ ‘Go van Gogh’ program, costumed characters including Curious George, Spongebob Squarepants, Pawlette the Bunny, the RadHatter, and much more. Radio Disney’s Jay Jenson will also be there with plenty of Disney fun and games.

From noon to 2 p.m., kids are invited to the seventh annual Simon Kidgits Club Book Blast!, a family event that shows children the joys of reading and the power of imagination through books, storytelling, and other fun, hands-on activities. The first 100 kids to attend the event will receive Curious George activity kits, filled with Curious George coloring pages, a magic paint palette, fun stickers, a Curious George mask, and more. Curious George also will entertain kids with a special live appearance!

Event sponsors include Galaxy Counseling Center, The CW 33 Television, Radio Disney, Kraft Foods, KPMG, Garland Independent School District, and Firewheel Town Center.

Galaxy Counseling Center is a non-profit United Way partner agency that works with the regional community to promote emotional health and family wellbeing through counseling, education, and outreach. Galaxy Counseling Center is a referral source for local school districts, family courts, police departments, Child Protective Services, and local doctors. Emmy-Nominated Playhouse Disney Series Featuring Handy Manny and His Box of Talking Tools Hits the Motor Speedway With New Primetime Special

Start your engines as Garland-area children rev up for some free, hands-on fun during the "Handy Manny Big Race Pit Stop" event at Firewheel Town Center on Saturday, March 20 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Sponsored by Playhouse Disney, the event will impart lessons for kids about the value of teamwork and perseverance through hands-on games and fun activities for the entire family. During the event, kids can play Handy Manny's Pit Stop Hokey Pokey, design their own toolboxes and customize Handy Manny license plates.

The event is free of charge and will take place in the building across the Park.

Children will receive free sticker sheets and a checkered racing flag, and will also be eligible for giveaways and special prizes. "We are thrilled to have Handy Manny make a special stop at Firewheel Town Center," said Melody Kamp, Director of Marketing and Business Development at Firewheel Town Center. "We have lots of fun activities planned around 'Handy Manny Big Race,' so families: Start your engines and head on over."

During the event, kids will have the opportunity to preview the all-new primetime special "Handy Manny Big Race" prior to its Saturday, March 20 (7:00 p.m., ET/PT) premiere on Disney Channel.

"Handy Manny Big Race Pit Stop" is one of several programs and events held throughout the year at Firewheel Town Center for members of Simon Kidgits Club, which focuses on health, wellness, education, safety and cost-free entertainment for children ages three through eight.

Four Seasons Celebrates Spring

The Four Seasons Market’s team is proud to announce the return of the Fruits, Plants and Produce to Firewheel Town Center. Saturday, March 13th the market will count nearly 60 vendors and among them 5 new farms: Rowdy's Produce & Plants, Mill Creek Farms, Sachse Heritage Farms, Heddin Family Farms and Little John's Plants & Produce. Altogether they will take more than 2000 square feet of the outdoor space. The Joy farm will also attend the upcoming market, bringing unusual produce that will attract the connoisseurs, the adventurous or the curious, such as: White icicle radishes, red leaf mustard, green mustard and heirloom/mesclun lettuce mix.

The Food Court will welcome 3 more vendors this weekend also: Vito Thaifood (serving 3 different dishes typically Thai), Good Spice Seasoning (CJ Singleton will take care of breakfast: cook to order, Sausage, egg and cheese sandwich with white or wheat bagel; Ranchero breakfast sandwich with chili, jalapeno on the side; Also a fajita chicken breakfast sandwich. ) and Hillbilly Kettle Korn (amazing corn cooked in front of you!). The other vendors “animating” the Food Court will also be there: Brisket Heaven, Double throw Down BBQ and Sunshine Hand Pies.

Cooking Demo (Feb. 13)

VALENTINE'S DAY SPECIAL EVENT - Let’s say that for once you decided to cook a lovely meal for your loved one? Well, if you know how to cook then I guess it is OK. If not, no worries; Chef Michael Weinstein (Dread Head Chef) will show you how to impress your special guest with a few easy-to-make dishes. He will use produce available at the market.

  • Quick bread slices at $2.00 instead of $2.50 at Florine Bowman Pastries' booth
